About to set off from Hippy Towers for our nearly month-long holiday in the US, staying with Steen’s parents. It’s barely light outside, and I can barely function on anything more than an automatic level (it being the wee hours and me not having eaten yet), but despite the accompanying travel hassle, I’m looking forward to this in a big way. Sometimes you just need some time off the grid, and I think both Steen and I hit that point about a month ago.
Bags are packed, travel essentials (wallet, phone, keys, documentation) to hand… Now we’re just waiting on that taxi.
Bring. It. On.
EDIT [6:25 am]
Well, the taxi didn’t arrive on time, which wasn’t the most auspicious start. Give the fella credit, though: apparently the office at taxi cab HQ let him down and didn’t inform him that he had a 5am start today, nor that we were going to Birmingham, but once we gave him a ring, he was outside our door in under 15 minutes, and deposited us at Birmingham airport in record time. So, slow out the gate but full marks for what happened when he arrived.
At Costa Coffee inside the terminal now, grabbing some breakfast before checking in. It’s really nice out this morning. Wonder if it’s still hotter than the surface of the sun in New York, as it apparently has been all week?
